What is a Patella Tendon Tear?

The patella or kneecap is a small bone that protects the knee. The patella tendon connects the patella to the tibia (shin bone). The patella tendon may partially or completely tear. A strong force delivered from a fall or jump is the cause of a patella tendon tear. Tears usually occur during sports or physical activities.
